Operation of Integer: Addition

*Properties of Addition

  • Commutative law à a + b  =  b + a
    • Replacing number doesn't change the result
  • Assosiative à (a + b) + c  =  a + (b + c)  =  (a + c) + b 
    • Changing group doesn't change the result
  • Close à integer + integer = integer
    • The result of integer addition is an integer too
  • It has an identity unsure
    • Addition an integer by zero doesn't change the integer/ will get an equal number/ will get a same integer
Example:

1. Addition of positive and positive integer
    a. 1 + 2 = 3
    b. 15 + 31 = 46
    c. 117 + 95 = 212
    d. 575 + 426 = 1001
    e. 1204 + 808 = 2012

so, positive integer + positive integer = positive integer

2. Addition of positive and negative integer
    a. 10 + (-9) = 1
    b. 300 + (-410) = -110
    c. (-25) + 10 = -15
    d. (-70) + 80 = 10

positive integer + negative integer = positive/negative integer

3. Addition of negative and negative integer
    a. -10 + (-10) = -20
    b. -101 + (-1001) = -1102
    c. -2 + (-3) = -5
    d. -210 + (-150) = -360
    e. -75 + (-35) = -110

negative integer + negative integer = negative integer

INTEGER
